Catholic Woman's Almanac - volume 25

Sharing a slice-of-life with some lovely friends...just a wee bit late here...

Moments of Gratitude

...new strings and a new bow for my violin...aahhh, what a difference!
...teenaged musicians making all sorts of amazing music...
...my dear husband who took time off from work so that I could spend an extended weekend living Cursillo...
...my sponsor for Cursillo...
...the entire Cursillo experience, from start to not-finished-yet...

From the Kitchen

In a word? Eggs.

My chickens have started laying-in-full-force. I'm told it's because the daylight hours are longer now. All I know is that I've got a "backlog" of eggs in the fridge, and it's becoming clear to me that it's time to start delivering them to family and friends again!

Praying

For a friend who is suffering from "burnout" in her ministry. For two families who have each lost a loved one this past week. For each member of the music ministry at our church. For the spiritual director, priest, and team members that I spent my Cursillo weekend with.

~~~
Meditating
On this one question: how can I help?
~~~

Pondering

Does it make me a Christian if I go to church each week, work in ministry, read the Bible, and participate in prayer groups? Or am I truly a Christian if I just really listen with ears and eyes and heart to someone who is hurting, and cry with them and encourage them and hug them and love them?

Reading

Rediscover Catholicism by Matthew Kelly.

And I highly recommend it.

Memorizing

Oh my! I'm still memorizing the Exsultet, and have added the Litany of Saints to the list!
Easter is coming and I'm bound-and-determined to be prepared.
So I work, and memorize, the music which will (I hope) bring comfort and peace and, yes, a bit of inspiration to the hearts of the faithful.

Because...well, of course!

Looking Ahead

A bit of a "slow" week, I'm happy to say!

Have a blessed week,
remember how very special you are,
and rest in His love!

    I ponder this ALL THE TIME! To me, coming from an evangelical protestant background and having many friends who belong to those type of churches, I vote for the second. Why? Because making a show of going to church, attending Bible studies, working visibly in ministries are just the social trappings of Christianity, the things that other people judge you by. Truly caring for and taking care of others are the things that God judges us by, and his opinion carries more weight. :) Sort of like the Bible stories of the praying Pharisees who made a big show out of praying in public and making their offerings to the church. It was for their own glory and not God's.

    1. I agree completely! It really does come down to the difference between just doing Christian acts in order to appear Christian, and living the Christian life by loving others with the love of Christ. I pray we all choose the latter!
