Catholic Woman's Almanac - volume 21

On Mondays, I take stock of things and remember things important.

With these lovely ladies...

Moments of Gratitude

...a new dishwasher...
...roosters crowing...
...choirs singing hymns...
...gentle snowfalls...
...an early spring...right?...so said that groundhog...:)
...catching up with old friends...

From the Kitchen

Because it was Superbowl Sunday, and I'm never one to pass up an opportunity to cook!

Praying

For my dh who's thrown his shoulder out. Ouch! Again, with the physical therapy? Poor guy.

Meditating

...on these words from St. Catherine of Siena: "Lift yourself completely above the traffic of the world."

Reading

Nothing much right now, despite the plethora of books on my bedside table....

...maybe I'll have time later in the week!

Memorizing

1 Corinthians 13: 1-13.

One of my most favorite passages!

Looking Ahead

Only one more week of Ordinary Time, and then the season of Lent begins. This is the week to set aside time for preparing. I'll strip the mantle bare and put out several Lenten reflection booklets. I'll make a minimal seven day menu, which will be repeated throughout Lent each week. We'll begin meals with a different prayer, and of course the music for liturgy will change. Lots and lots to do!

What I really want to tell you:

  1. Your Superbowl food looks yummy. I liked reading about some of the ways you're going to change things up a bit for Lent. I like the repeating menu idea. A couple of years ago the kids and I did oatmeal for breakfast every morning during Lent. I thought the practice was a good one...except now no one likes oatmeal for breakfast!
