five minute friday: choosing the better opportunity

Five minutes of writing - no editing, no second-guessing, just five minutes of heart-thoughts pressed out by the keys...

Joining Lisa-Jo for this week's (live) Five Minute Friday...

This week's thoughts?

OPPORTUNITY

Ready?  Set?  Go!

---

They come rushing at us every day, you know.
OPPORTUNITIES.
Really, in every moment there they are....opportunities ready to be opened up and taken and embraced and lived.
I don't always choose the right ones, though.
The opportunity to lash out with the tongue with those words that seem always to be right there on the tip of that tongue - opportunity to wound and to hurt, which I think, for some reason, will make my own hurt disappear right quick - that one shows up quick and fast and it's almost impossible to miss it.
Then there is that other opportunity, the one that's partly hidden behind the anger and the fear - the opportunity to turn that other cheek right around and to go the extra mile and to swallow pride and pick up the cross and show love to those who seem to be quite unlovable. That one is harder to see.
Opportunity sometimes hides in the shadows, but it's still there.
In every moment there really is an opportunity of grace-to-be-lived.
And how to seize the day and grab the opportunities to really live and live real?
Well it seems quite obvious, and not-so-obvious too...that instead of looking at the obvious opportunities-to-react, we need (no - really it's me, here...of course) I need to find that almost-but-not-quite-hidden opportunity to live the grace I say I've found.
I know they're coming today...those opportunities...
...and today, at least today, I'm ready to choose the better ones.

  1. It's really all about choices, isn't it? A choice to live out "the grace I say I've found" (a lovely turn of phrase, by the way)versus living in my imperfect humanness. Great post!
